New England 2019

Here's the recap of a recent trip to New England. A few backpacking friends and I hit the trail this fall to retrace some steps I took on the the Appalachian Trail 25 years ago to the day. This is one of my favorite sections from Maine, and there's some great shots from Mount Washington to boot... … [Read more...]

Rocky Mountain, North Georgia – December 22, 2018

This is a video of a December 22, 2018 backpacking trip to Rocky Mountain in North Georgia.  We hiked in a few inches of snow that came down the prior day, but most of it melted as the temps climbed to the low 40's during our hike.  Yonah Mountain can be seen at sunset in the distance.  My 13 year old son gets photo credit for many of the pics. … [Read more...]

White River National Forest – Aspen, Colorado – June 23, 2016

The scenery was spectacular and I wish we had our backpacks and spent the night in the wilderness - maybe next time. The whitewater rafting was also a blast. Kudos to "Drone Boy" for shooting the aerial footage and for putting this video together. … [Read more...]

In Episode 38, Theo and Bee give us all a New Years gift and tell us about their adventures on the 273 mile (440 km) Kungsleden Trail in northern Sweden.  The couple has lived out of their VW van for the last three years, but took time off from their travels to hike the Kungsleden in the fall of 2015 and release the film Distant North a year later. Back home in the UK (and from a recently purchased boat), Theo and Bee speak to the logistics of a Kungsleden thru-hike, the arctic weather and … [Read more...]

Alex Maier On The Pacific Northwest Trail

In Episode 34, Alex "Money Shot" Maier talks about his film "A Sense Of Direction" which documents his travels on the Pacific Northwest Trail in the summer of 2015.  Alex chose the PNT for his first thru-hike (and first hiking film) to explore one of the newest trails in the National Scenic Trail system - which earned the status in 2009.  Only a few hundred backpackers have thru-hiked the 1200 mile trail to date, and all have had the fortune to experience the PNT while it is still in … [Read more...]
