Highlights:

Hembree Park is a well-loved community park in Roswell, Georgia, offering a wide variety of recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages. The park features athletic facilities, playgrounds, open green spaces, a recreation center, and several baseball fields that serve as a hub for local youth and adult sports leagues throughout much of the year. Despite its popularity with athletes and spectators, Hembree Park is also a favorite destination for walkers, runners, and families looking for a peaceful outdoor experience. A well-maintained gravel trail loops around the ball fields and through wooded sections of the park, providing a pleasant route that is shaded for much of its length. The trail is relatively flat with only minor elevation changes, making it accessible to hikers of varying fitness levels and an excellent option for a casual stroll, daily exercise, or a quick nature break close to the city.

One of the park’s more surprising features is a small primitive camping area tucked away in the wooded back section of the property. Constructed by local Boy Scouts as part of an Eagle Scout project in 2002, the campsite area includes several tent pads, a picnic pavilion, and a fire ring situated beside a small stream. The setting feels remarkably secluded considering its location within a city park, offering visitors a chance to experience a taste of camping without traveling far from home. The walking trail passes directly by the campsite area, allowing hikers to explore this unique feature as they make their way through the park. Because the campsites are managed by the city and available only by reservation, anyone wishing to camp overnight must obtain a permit and make arrangements through the recreation center in advance. This combination of athletic facilities, walking trails, and primitive camping makes Hembree Park one of Roswell’s more distinctive neighborhood parks.
