The Hendersonville Tennessee Greenway system is a network of multi-use trails designed for hiking, walking, running, and biking. The greenway connects parks, neighborhoods, and key community spaces. It also provides scenic routes along waterways and wooded areas – enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities in the city. The greenway runs along Drakes Creek and Old Hickory Lake offering picturesque settings. Paved surfaces make them ideal for walking, jogging, biking, and strollers. The Hendersonville Greenway system continues to expand, providing more opportunities for outdoor recreation and connectivity across the city.
The section of the Hendersonville Greenway that we hiked was paved and located on the northern end of Drakes Creek Park. It starts at Field 14 and follows a paved path along the creek, near some railroad tracks, and past a field that has a series of townhomes in the distance. Expect to see people walking and biking on this trail – but it’s a nice break from soccer or lacrosse games if you are in the area and want to get some exercise. Drakes Creek Greenway follows Drakes Creek and passes through Memorial Park and Drakes Creek Park. If you follow Drakes Creek Greenway in its entirety it is 3.9 miles total (out-and-back).
