Highlights:

Hilton Head Island is situated along the Atlantic coast and is the largest barrier island in South Carolina. It’s known for its beautiful beaches, marshes, and maritime forests and the island covers ~42 square miles – including over 12 miles of pristine beaches.  Islanders Beach Park is a public beach located on Hilton Head Island and situated on the southern end of the Island off Folly Field Road. It’s conveniently located near many resorts, hotels, and vacation rentals and offers direct access to the beach.  The park has restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic tables, shelters, and a designated parking areas for visitors and homeowners

This hike starts at the parking area for the Islander’s Beach and follows the a boardwalk to the ocean.  From here you can hike two miles in either direction – although there are fewer people once you pass the Westin heading northeast along the coast.  Dogs are allowed on Hilton Head beaches at any time from October 1st to February 28th, then are restricted to before 10am and after 5pm during the rest of the year.  To complete this hike, backtrack to the boardwalk.
