Hilton Head Island is a Lowcountry resort town located in Beaufort County, South Carolina, USA. The island is named for Captain William Hilton who in 1663 identified a headland near the entrance to Port Royal Sound which he named “Hilton’s Head”. The island has 12 miles of beachfront on the Atlantic Ocean and is a popular vacation destination.
Folly Field is a residential and vacation area on Hilton Head Island – known for its laid-back atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and natural surroundings. It offers a more relaxed, less commercial vibe compared to some other parts of the island and it is popular with families, retirees, and those looking for a quieter beach getaway. This is a short hike that starts at the Folly Field parking area and follows the beach northbound with views to the east of the Atlantic Ocean. You backtrack to the parking area and a boardwalk that leads to it from the Folly Field beach.
