Freedom Park is located between the historic neighborhoods of Dilworth and Myers Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has paved hiking and biking trails that are centered around a seven acre lake only a few miles from downtown Charlotte. There are also some unpaved walking trails that run along Little Sugar Creek for those that want the off trail experience.

On this hike, I walked along Little Sugar Creek, looped around the lake, then walked through the soccer and baseball fields to return to the main parking area. You can mix in some off trail hiking along the creek to get away from the pavement, and this is a nice relaxing hike for all ages. It’s also very popular – so expect to see a lot of people while you are walking through Freedom Park.
