Highlights:
Woodruff Scout Reservation is situated near Lake Woodruff, which offers water-based activities and has an extensive trail system around it that connects Scouts with nature. The lake is known for its beautiful scenery, well-maintained facilities, and experienced staff, making it a highly-regarded location on the reservation. This hike on the Meadow Trail at Woodruff is a 3.4 mile trail that starts at the lake shore between the amphitheater and the dam. Do not follow the bike trail uphill when it turns off, instead walk along the shore to the next double-track loop road coming in from the left. There are numerous turns on the trail, so pay extra attention at every junction.
Woodruff Scout Reservation is a popular Boy Scouts of America camp located in Blairsville, Georgia, nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. This camp is run by the Atlanta Area Council and offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, canoeing, kayaking, archery, rifle shooting, and climbing. It is a premier destination for Scouts during the summer, providing merit badge programs, leadership training, and high-adventure experiences. The camp is named for Robert W. Woodruff who was born in 1889 in Georgia and was one of a group of businessmen who bought The Coca-Cola Company in 1919. Woodruff Scout Camp was built with donations from the Woodruff Foundation and The Coca-Cola Company and now hosts over 300 Scout units and over 6000 people each summer on 1600 acres on land in the North Georgia Mountains.
