Bert Adams Scout Reservation

The Bert Adams Scout Reservation is a prominent Boy Scout camp located near Covington, Georgia, about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta. Operated by the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the reservation has a long Scouting tradition dating back to 1927 and has provided generations of young people with opportunities to learn, explore, and develop outdoor skills. Bert Adams Scout Reservation encompasses nearly 1,300 acres and officially opened at its present location in 1960. The property includes extensive wooded areas, lakes, trails, camping facilities, and other program areas that support the reservation’s many activities. This hike begins at the nature center and follows Lake Bulow Campbell around the Scout Reservation, providing an easy opportunity to explore the property and enjoy its natural surroundings. The roughly two-mile route crosses two footbridges and passes both a large and a small amphitheater, which are used for gatherings, instruction, and other Scout activities. The trail remains close to the lake for much of the hike, providing broad views across the water and opportunities to observe the surrounding forest and wildlife. The combination of quiet woods, lake views, footbridges, and Scout facilities makes this a pleasant and relatively easy walk for visitors who want to experience a portion of the reservation without committing to a longer hike.
