Highlights:

The Bert Adams Scout Reservation is a prominent Boy Scout camp located near Covington, Georgia, approximately 30 miles southeast of Atlanta. Operated by the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the reservation has a long history dating back to 1927 and has played an important role in providing outdoor education and Scouting experiences for generations of young people. The property offers Scouts opportunities to learn practical outdoor skills, develop leadership and teamwork abilities, and participate in traditional activities such as camping, hiking, nature study, boating, and other forms of outdoor recreation. Over the years, Bert Adams has combined the traditional values of the Scouting program with newer programs and facilities designed to provide a broad range of educational and recreational experiences. Its wooded setting, extensive acreage, and numerous program facilities make the reservation an important outdoor resource for the Atlanta-area Scouting community and visiting groups from throughout the Southeast.

Bert Adams Scout Reservation encompasses nearly 1,300 acres and officially opened in its present location in 1960. The reservation hosts a variety of activities throughout the year, including summer camps, weekend camping programs, special events, and Jamborees that bring Scouts from across the Southeast to the property. Modern camping and program facilities support these events while the large wooded property provides ample room for hiking, exploration, and outdoor activities. This hike begins at the nature center and follows Lake Bulow Campbell around a portion of the Scout Reservation, offering an easy way to experience the natural setting without undertaking a lengthy trek. The approximately two-mile route crosses two footbridges and passes both a large and a small amphitheater, which serve as reminders of the property’s role as a gathering and educational center. Much of the route stays close to the lake, providing attractive views across the water for the majority of the hike. The combination of quiet wooded trails, lake scenery, bridges, and recreational facilities makes this a pleasant introduction to the reservation and its natural surroundings.
