Grand Canyon National Park is located in northwestern Arizona and encompasses nearly two million square miles of land. The park’s primary feature is the Grand Canyon – a gorge carved by the Colorado River which is considered one of the Wonders of the World. The Grand Canyon National Park receives nearly five million visitors a year and is the second most visited national park after the Great Smoky Mountains. The park celebrated its 100th anniversary on February 26, 2019.
This is a short hike near the east entrance to Grand Canyon National Park that winds 0.3 miles past Tusayan Indian ruins and has views of Humphrey’s Peak, the highest point in Arizona, in the distance. The hike is very easy and can be done as either a guided or self guided tour. It starts at a small museum and makes a short loop to the west of the parking area. The trail is suitable to all ages, and would be especially good for those with young children.
