Highlights:

Olympic National Park is one of the most ecologically diverse and geologically dramatic national parks in the United States.  It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve, which reflects its global environmental significance.  Located on the Olympic Peninsula in the State of Washington, it’s renowned for its dramatic landscapes, biodiversity, and three distinct ecosystems which include mountains, rainforests, and coastline.  There are over 600 miles of hiking and backpacking trails which are best experienced in the summer months of June through September.

Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort is a historic and relaxing destination located within Olympic National Park, offering access to natural hot mineral springs, scenic hiking trails, and the beautiful Sol Duc River Valley.  This six mile loop hike on the Lover’s Lane Trail starts at the resort and follows the Sol Duc River to a scenic set of falls that are set in an old growth forest. It can be hiked in either direction, but the western piece ends in the park campground and is more heavily used. The trail can be accessed from the Resort area (near cabins 129 and 130) and it has very little elevation change for the majority of the route. Watch your step on the wood bridges that line the Lover’s Lane Trail. The combination of wet weather and thick moss can make the wood very slick.
