Barton Creek
Barton Creek Resort
The Barton Creek Nature Trail is billed as the Barton Creek Resort’s on-going commitment to environmental preservation. This 1/2 mile, self-guided tour offers visitors the opportunity to explore unique flora and fauna found in the Central Texas Hill Country and it is located only a short distance from Austin. The shaded trail has native plants which are clearly identified on plaques, and a series of small bridges that criss-cross Barton Creek that is fed from a natural spring that pools about halfway through the hike. Barton Creek Golf Course and some residential houses surround the small valley where the trail resides, but it is well shaded and isolated from the urban environment nearby. The springs, bridges, and numerous wooden platforms (which include an Indian Tee-Pee) make this an interesting and easy hike – especially for children.
