Calibogue Sound
Highlights:

Daufuskie Island is a barrier island located between Hilton Head Island and Savannah and is the southernmost inhabited sea island in South Carolina. It is ~5 miles (8 km) long and surrounded by Calibogue Sound, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean and is only accessible by boat.  It’s is also known for its rich Gullah culture, pristine beaches, and historic sites.

This hike along the Calibogue Sound starts at the Melrose Beach Club & Pool and follows the beach down toward the Melrose Inn which was badly damaged in a hurricane and is still closed (yet rumored to have a plan to reopen). There are views to Hilton Head Island and you can see Harbor Town and the Sea Pines Plantation across the Calibogue Sound .
