Highlights:

The Anne Springs Close Greenway is located near Rock Hill, S.C. and the Springfield Loop is 2.3 mile hike in the park. From the Dairy Barn, leave the trailhead and hike counter-clockwise heading south. You may notice a few mountain bikers on the trail (who also share this route), so keep the dog leashed to avoid any unwelcome collisions. The trail is wide enough to accommodate both parties, so sharing the route shouldn’t be an issue.

The Springfield Trail climbs a short knob then descends gradually to a swinging bridge at Steele Creek about halfway through the hike at 550 feet. The wooden structure is exciting to cross and may have the hound pondering the situation, but the views of the stream are therapeutic and it’s a nice break on the hike. Look for white oak, hickory, and pine trees which are common in this area and grow along the forest that surrounds Steele Creek. Then turn back to the north and complete the loop.
