The Tet Paul Nature Trail, often referred to as the “Stairway to Heaven,” is a moderately challenging 0.6-mile circular loop near Soufrière that offers some of the most accessible and breathtaking views in Saint Lucia. Unlike the strenuous climbs of the nearby Pitons, this trail is family-friendly and typically takes about 45 minutes to complete at a leisurely pace. At the summit, hikers are rewarded with a 360-degree panorama of the southern coast, including Jalousie Bay, Vieux Fort, and, on clear days, the distant islands of Martinique and St. Vincent.
Beyond the vistas, the trail serves as a cultural and educational journey through the island’s agricultural heritage. Managed as a local community project, the hike includes guided insights into traditional farming practices, indigenous flora, and medicinal plants. Visitors can explore an organic farm and an antique house that provides a glimpse into the lifestyle of the island’s early inhabitants. The entry fee of $10 USD (which includes the guide) directly supports these community initiatives, making it a key example of sustainable ecotourism in the Caribbean.
