Highlights:

Tritt Elementary School is located in Marietta, Georgia in a suburban area of Atlanta known as East Cobb.  The school serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade and is part of the The Cobb County School District – one of the largest and most respected school districts in Georgia.  The district serves a diverse population of students across multiple grade levels.  This short suburban-Atlanta hike is open to the public when school is not in session.  It is located behind Tritt Elementary with a small parking area near the ball fields that has room for 6-8 cars.

The Tritt Nature Trail makes a loop through a hardwood forest and by a small lake as it passes multiple outdoor classrooms and interpretive signs on the 0.8 mile route. There are views across the lake to a housing subdivisions in the winter months – but the summer months have you hiking 20 minutes through a dense hardwood forest.  If you enter the trail under the Tritt Nature Trail sign, you can do a double loop dropping down the steps, turning right, then hiking clockwise to return to the same point after about ten minutes.  Then descend the steps a second time, turn left and hike counter-clockwise along the lake and up the hill where you end at the ball fields.  You can walk the track then return to the trailhead to complete this double loop.
