Highlights:

The Chattahoochee Nature Center is a private, non-profit environmental education facility in Roswell, Georgia located next to the Chattahoochee River. The nature center has an indoor interpretive center with live fish, snakes, turtles and an interactive area for kids. Outside, there is a paved walking trail that takes you past beavers, bald eagles, and a number of species of owls and hawks. Six short trails circle the property and range in length from 0.16 to 0.5 miles.

This hike on the River Boardwalk Trail actually takes place across Willeo Road and along a boardwalk situated in the Chattahoochee River basin. It is marked by purple blazes and has excellent views of the river. During our hike, floods damaged a section of the boardwalk which made it necessary to backtrack. However, we enjoyed this short hike which is great for small kids or for anyone looking for a leisurely stroll along the river.

The Boardwalk River Trail can only be accessed when the Chattahoochee Nature Center is open. So check in at main entrance (and expect to pay a fee). The Nature Center has a very cool raptor center outside – so it’s worth the price of admission.
