Riverside Park Trip Report – November 15, 2024

Friday 11/15/24 (Atlanta) Mostly sunny and a nice fall day with temps to 66 H, 48 L at the Atlanta airport.

. Worked from home this morning
. Which was nice after getting home last night after QBR’s and dinners all week in both Stamford and NYC with our top five partners
. Maddie headed for school while Ashley took Annie to the groomer for a 9am appointment
. Had nothing on the calendar today which was nice
. But Jack reached out at 10am for an update on Real Pages since he had a call with Red Ventures this morning
. They’ve been trying to get them approved as a sub-affiliate
. Loaded Jack with data for the call
. Then worked until noon and went for a walk/run on the Roswell Riverwalk Trail
. I’ve done this paved trail numerous times – usually running – but was overdue to get it on N2Backpacking
. And today was a perfect day for it
. There were a fair number of people out today as a result – but I enjoyed rocking out to tunes and getting some exercise like I used to do regularly in the DGS/Ibex days
. Had an easy afternoon with Steven recovering from a long flight home to LA last evening
. And bid Ashley farewell as she headed to show a house this afternoon at 3:30pm
. Then to Maddie’s swim meet against Westminster
. Worked until 5pm, then unpacked/repacked for the trip to Auburn tomorrow to see Will
. Then caught a ride with Prendergasts to Canton Street for dinner with the Mahan’s at Roux
. Ashley considered joining us but ended up leaving Maddie’s swim meet and heading straight to the Blessed Trinity game v’s Cass
. Met the girls there but ventured into Mac McGees after dinner with the Mahan’s and barely made it by halftime
. John and Christy had seats with Ashley and Mike (John’s Dad)
. So we joined them and watched halftime and all of the 3rd quarter
. BT was winning 31-0 by the end of the 3rd quarter
. And Ashley was cold
. So we skipped the fourth quarter and headed home
. Had a drink with Ashley until Maddie got home from the game
. Then finished packing this evening for Auburn turned in early and watched some more of a documentary of OJ Simpson until Ashley and I feel asleep by midnight

Saturday 11/16/24 (Atlanta/Auburn) Mostly sunny and a nice fall day with temps to 71 H, 45 L at the Atlanta airport. Warmer in Auburn.

. Left for Auburn by 8:15am this morning with Ashley driving the entire way
. Stopped after an hour to get breakfast, beer, ice, and gas at a Racetrack
. Then drove to our VRBO rental house for the weekend
. We couldn’t get in yet, so left the 4Runner in the parking area
. And caught a ride with the Kernans to the Lambda Chi house
. Met Michael Kernan there and drug coolers to the tailgate tents that we rented for the fall semester
. There were less people than over Homecoming which allowed us to actually use the tent this time
. Will and his BT friends showed up within the hour
. And we all had food and drinks before the noon kickoff against University of Louisianna Monroe
. Scored free seats in the upper deck – but it was damn hot in the sun
. So we left at the half and hung out at the tailgate until after 4pm
. Ed and Susan VanBuren (who introduced us to this tailgate) hung out with daughter Grace and friends
. But headed back to our neighborhood for the night
. Enjoyed talking to them – which may be the last time at a tailgatge
. Their daughter Grace will graduate this year
. The Keoghs missed the game but spent most of the afternoon with us at the tailgate
. Then in the late afternoon we all headed back to the Lamba Chi house and had dinner next door at a Mexican place
. Will and friends joined us with Michael and girlfriend Julia also at our table
. Finished dinner and drinks
. Then walked to the Lambda Chi house for a band party which was packed with both parents and kids
. Hung there until about 9pm, then went to the Graduate bar at the nearby Hilton property where the Kernan’s watched Georgia beat Tennessee sitting on the outdoor patio
. I sat inside with Ashley and the Keogh’s since it was pretty chilly outside without the firepits and lamps functioning yet
. Had a great time then Michael drove us back to his place and Peggy took us the final mile to our VRBO
. The girls all went to bed around 11:30pm
. But Rich talked Jeff Keogh and I into grabbing a drink and walking to Gutheries where we got some late night food
. It was much less crazy and crowded than during homecoming
. And the service was quick and excellent – what a surprise
. Dined inside, then walked back to the VRBO
. Finally sacked out ~12:30am
