Lake Toxaway is a private resort community in western North Carolina, centered around Lake Toxaway, the largest private lake in the state. It is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is known for its stunning natural beauty, luxurious accommodations, and outdoor recreation opportunities. Lake Toxaway spans 640 acres and offers boating, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. Its crystal-clear waters are a major attraction for visitors and residents. The resort is close to some of the most scenic hiking trails in the region, including those that lead to famous waterfalls like Whitewater Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Gorges State Park.
This short hike loops around a small stream and pond that is located in the Lake Toxaway Resort near Cashiers, N.C. The stream runs through a thick forest with hardwoods and rhododendrons and cascades over a small waterfall in the middle of the forest. The trail is located on private property and you must have the permission of the owners to explore it. They have done an impressive job (and have undoubtedly invested countless man hours) building backcountry treehouses, swings, hot tubs, and hillside decks. It is truly an experience to wander through this forest but make sure you get permission first.
