In October 2024, Boone Dawg passed away after an active life on the trail at the age of 13 1/2 (or 95 in dog years). He took his first hike as a puppy outside of Charlotte, North Carolina and never missed an opportunity until age and arthritis caught up with him. For those of you that hiked and backpacked with Boone (and there were many), we scattered his ashes on the trail where he spent a great deal of his life.

Boone spent his life growing up on the trail with my kids and our family misses him and will cherish our moments together hiking, backpacking, and camping in the wilderness.
