Highlights:

Big Canoe is a private residential community and resort located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains.  The resort is about an hour north of Atlanta and spans over 8,000 acres and has a mix of residential properties and recreational amenities.  Big Canoe is also a popular vacation destination.  Recreational opportunities include a 27 golf course, tennis & pickleball courts, hiking trails, and a fitness center.  The resort also includes a beach and marina at Lake Disharoon which is popular for swimming, boating, and fishing.

This is a short hike in Big Canoe that descends 0.4 miles from the Mountain Mint trailhead to a small and two-tiered waterfall known as Upper Falls. The hike follows an old jeep trail to the falls which carve a deep cut out of exposed rock. There are two small pools in the waterfall and picnic tables and even a trash receptacle at the base. The hike back out is entirely uphill but it’s suitable for small children.
