Episode 52R: Back To The Beginning

In Episode 52R, we relaunch the most popular podcast from the first few years of the show … 30-Pack’s enthusiastic recap of his 2012 Appalachian Trail thru-hike.  With spring in the air and thru-hiker season underway – this is a great follow-up to our discussions with 3Dub in the last show.  Once again, you’ll hear how the Trail takes hold of you – whether you’re in your 20’s or 70’s – or anywhere between.  And how it can drive you to keep going … on to the Pacific Crest Trail, the Continental Divide Trail, and/or the Camino de Santiago.

In the podcast, KC talks about the birth of his trail-name, some of his favorite (and not so favorite) moments on the Appalachian Trail, the Wolf Pack and the social aspects of a thru-hike, and how he is keyed up for his Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike.  30-Pack is one of those lucky people who found a way to keep going.

As this podcast re-enters the distribution list, KC is biking 1800 miles from Canada to Mexico.  So we go back to the beginning … to those first steps on the A.T. that launched a six year backcountry odyssey.  And if that inspires you, check out N2Backpacking Episodes 19, 20, 36, and 37 – if you haven’t already.  30-Pack and the Trail might take hold of you too!
