TRAIL MAPSMany of My Hikes have maps tied to them. Under More Details on the My Hikes pages, look to see if there is a link. You can also do a Site Search and try to find them with the n2backpacking search engine. Maps have different functions and come in a variety of formats. The list below explains this in more detail.....
Area Map: Shows the general area or location of the hike. These Yahoo Maps include the major towns, cities, and roads in the area and the trailhead is marked by a red star. Click here for an example. Detailed Map: Shows the trailhead, trails, campsites, water sources, etc. These maps have topographical lines, and often come with directions to the trailhead. Formats are in Word 2000 or higher. Click here for an example. (Password Required) Park/Forest Map: Shows the National Park, National Forest, or State Forest area. Formats are in Adobe Acrobat (5.0 or higher) and jpg. Click here for an example. Profile Map: Shows the profile of the hike including elevation gained and lost and total mileage completed. Formats are usually in jpg format but can occasionally be found in Word 2000 or higher. Click here for an example. |
