I have never hiked the trail along the East Fork but have hiked the entire Chattooga River and Foothills Trail in this area.

Do you have this book? Guide to the Foothills Trail On page 48, it details this area from Sloan Bridge SC 107 to Fish Hatchery Road to Burrell's Ford. on page 109 it mentions the spur that you reference here as "trail to connect with the Foothills Trail turns left (east) and climbs toward Medlin Mountain".

Do you have this book? Chattooga National Wild and Scenic River. Tim Homan describes the trails in detail in this area as well.

This Chattooga River Trail map is also a good one, because it shows all the trails here.

On the Chattooga River Trail map I see a spur between the Chattooga River Trail and Foothills Trail tagged as Trail #221. This trail also continues north to Ellicott Rock listed as #221 and is marked on the map as the Chattooga River Trail.

If you are referring to the Fork Mountain Trail, the Guide to the Foothills Trail also describes this area in detail on page 106. It sounds like you hike in this area a lot. If you get nothing else, I suggest the Foothills Trail guidebook which has detailed hiking directions and maps (including spur maps and trailhead maps). Hope this helps.

Hello Birdshooter,

I have a question I hope you can answer. I did a recent treck from the Fish Hatchery down the East Fork. Once I hit the River Trail, I took the spur north of Burrells that led back to the Foothills Trail. I cannot find any information regarding the spur. Do you have any knowledge of this spur?

Also, can you direct me to information regarding the Fort Maountain Loop; which trails the loop incorporates, etc...

Thanks So Much!
