HIGHLIGHTS: Andrew Jackson State Park is named for the former president who lived most of his young life in this area and is honored by a statue created by Anna Hyatt Huntington. As a famous sculptress with a summer home nearby, Anna made the statue of the young president and gave it to the children of South Carolina to commemorate this legendary leader. The land that houses the park was given to the state of South Carolina by the county in the 1950?s. The 360-acre facility contains a museum (which documents the lives of early settlers), a campground, a playground; a meetinghouse, a boat dock, and a lake stocked with bass, brim, and catfish.
The short Crawford Hiking Trail loop is a 1.1-mile hike that begins near the parking area to the right of the Meeting House. It leads through a picnic area in the southeastern corner of the park where it crosses SC 378 on two occasions before winding back to the starting point.
